Air Temperature: 24
Sea Temperature: 17
Weather: sunny

Wasn’t looking that good a forecast so took it easy in the morning, a bit of a lay-in after 4 early starts working! exercises in the garden and check the forecast while having breakfast. The sw wind was looking good so loaded the trailer and headed down, The Fludgers would have been the best spot to start with but because of wall to wall sunshine I couldn’t park so continued to The Dip where the wind was a fraction off. The wind was gusting over 20 mph so rigged 7.8 and took out the big zantos as it was difficult to gauge the wind until you got out on the water, I was on the water at mid-day with the tide at its highest! Which meant I had wind and tide together was made getting upwind harder. My plan was to beat along the coast to the pier but was way underpowered for a few runs and I lost several groynes downwind :( I wasn’t sure what to do, rig 9.4 and take out the longboard or try the 8.5 on the 310? but in the end I didn’t have to make that decision as the breeze filled in :) so I started the beat down the coast just as the Red Arrows flow over for the second day in a row:) In between beating I had a few broad runs when some good gusts hit and managed over 26 kts down by Jacobs Ladder! It was great beating far out to sea trying to avoid the small trawler fishing and then turning close to the beach crowded with families enjoying the summer which has returned to Felixstowe today after some really poor weather this week! The sea was very lumpy but was uk when beating because you were going fairly slow, I made it just past the pier stopped for a couple of moments before setting off really broad back!!! You could sail almost parallel beach and it was fantastic! So effortless ironing out most of the lumps and getting a 23 kt N/mile :) Windsurfing doesn’t get better than this :) I was out 2 hours this time so went back to the van for a drink and a snack before doing it all again and was out another hour and a half:) and still no sign of any other windsurfers!!! Back at The Dip there was one windsurfer (way underpowered) out with 6 kitesurfers. I was keen to do it again but the wind had dropped and I couldn’t be bothered to rig bigger as I had been out three and a half hours covering 67k and getting a month’s best for n/mile,1 hour,Alpha and distance, so a 5 star session – one of the best of the year – shame I was out by myself:(
